Iowa DNR Interactive Mapping, Water Web Help Files

Navigating the Water Web Map with Zoom and Pan Tools:

When you first open the Water Web Map, the Zoom In tool is the default active tool. To zoom in on the interactive map, simply click with your mouse on the map to where you wish to zoom. The map will zoom to a specified scale with each click of the mouse.

To zoom out on the interactive map, you first need to select the Zoom Out tool from the Active Tool dropdown, located directly above the Water Web Map. After selecting Zoom Out from the list, click with your mouse on the map to zoom out to a specified scale. Look below to see the options available in the Active Tool dropdown:

Notice in the image above that there is a four-sided arrow that appears in the upper left corner of the interactive map. This is the Pan Arrow tool. If you click on one of the four sides, the interactive map will pan the map in that direction without changing the map scale.

An Overview Map is available in the bottom left corner of the interactive map that allows you to zoom to any part of the state at the current map scale. Just click on a location in the overview map and your interactive map will zoom to that location. Below is an image of the Overview Map:
