Iowa DNR Interactive Mapping, Water Web Help Files

Identify Lake Beach Feature on Water Web Map:

First, make sure the Beach Lake Status layer is visible. Go to the Legend Layers Help Page to learn how to turn layers on and off. Once you have the Beach Lake Status layer visible, zoom in on the interactive map using the default active Zoom In tool until you locate a lake beach of interest. Look below at an example for zooming in to Backbone Beach at Backbone Lake:

From the Active Tool toolbar, which is located directly above the interactive map, choose Identify Beach as the active tool from the dropdown list. Look at the image below:

With your mouse, select the lake beach point feature (large green dot in the case of Backbone Beach) on the interactive map, wait, and directly below your map will appear current lake beach information. Look at the image below (Backbone Beach example):

To view more of this beach information in a printable report-like datasheet, click on the View Datasheet link at the bottom of the returned lake beach information. Your web page will then be refreshed with a full datasheet, with maps included, for the selected beach and all other beaches available on the same lake.
