Regulations: Hunting, Fishing and Trapping
Hunting, fishing and trapping laws and information you are most likely to need to safely participate while hunting and fishing.

Hunting and Fishing License Applications for Veterans, Disabled Iowans, and Senior Citizens
Information on how to apply for hunting and fishing lisenses for Iowa's veterans, disabled citizens, and seniors over age 65.

Wildlife Damage Management
The DNR is responsible for managing Iowa's wildlife for all of Iowa's citizens. One of the DNR's responsibilities is to provide private landowners with the guidance and assistance they need to effectively deal with wildlife damage.

Bowhunter Survey
The Bowhunter Observation Survey is an annual survey conducted by the Iowa DNR to obtain information on deer, turkeys, and selected furbearers.

Chronic Wasting Disease - (CWD)
The Iowa DNR was informed by the National Veterinary Services Lab in Ames that none of the 4,232 Iowa whitetail deer tested for chronic wasting disease (CWD) by the lab during the 2006-07 season showed any signs of the disease.

Deer Management Zone (DMZ) Hunts
Deer population management zones have been established to reduce high deer numbers in areas where traditional hunting seasons cannot be held - mainly urban areas and state and county parks.

HUSH: Help Us Stop Hunger
HUSH is a cooperative effort among deer hunters, the Food Bank of Iowa, meat lockers and the Iowa DNR.

Landowner / Tenant Registration
The primary purpose of LOT registration is to help ensure that LOT deer and turkey licenses are obtained only by those who meet the residency and eligibility requirements for these licenses.

Private Lands Management
Iowa DNR Wildlife Bureau maintains a Private Lands Program with a focused effort to enroll landowners in conservation programs across the state.

Ground Blinds
Ground blinds used for hunting deer during the regular gun deer seasons must have a solid blaze orange marking visible in all directions with a minimum height of 12 inches and a minimum width of 12 inches.
