Iowa DNR Shooting Ranges Shooting Range Location Map Banner Shooting Range The Banner Shooting Range, located at Summerset Park near Indianola is now open. The new and improved range currently offers facilities for rifle, handgun and shotgun shooters and plans are in place for an archery range in 2007. For rifle and pistol shooters, the facility offers 50 yard and 100 yard ranges. The shotgun range has four shooting stations equipped with new, Lincoln trap machines capable of throwing singles or doubles.
The shooting range is located at 13796 Elkhorn Street between Des Moines and Indianola on US Highway 65/69 in Warren County. Banner Shooting Range Brochure (*.pdf file) Bays Branch Shooting Range Located 2 miles North of Panora on Highway 4, 2.5 miles East on 190th Street in Guthrie County. Brushy Creek Shooting Range Two ranges are located at Brushy Creek State Recreational Area. One is south of the park office approximately 1/2 mile North of County Road D-46. The other is a trap range located in the northern section of the park. It can be reached by taking 250th from County Road P-73, then turn right on Taylor Ave. Both are located East of Lehigh in Webster County. Charles "Butch" Olofson Shooting Range The Charles "Butch" Olofson Shooting Range and Training Center is located 4.7 miles north of Polk City on N.W. Madrid Blvd., immediately adjacent to public hunting land surrounding Big Creek State Park. The facilities include two 10 station 50 yard ranges available for handgun, rifle, shotgun slug, and muzzleloaders. A 10 station 100 yard range is set up for bench rest shooting. Also located at Olofson Range is a league approved trap/skeet field. Hawkeye Wildlife Shooting Range Located 2 miles North of North Liberty on Highway 965, 1.5 miles West on Swan Lake Road, 3/4 mile East of Swisher on F12, 2.5 miles South on Highway 965, 1/2 mile West on Amana Road in Johnson County.
