UST Compliance Inspector Certification
Currently, all UST compliance inspectors are temporarily certified with the
DNR to conduct UST compliance inspections in Iowa. In order to get the third
party inspection program started up by 2007, a temporary certification process
was put into place until a more permanent certification process could be worked
out.
The permanent certification process for compliance inspectors is scheduled
for August 5-6, 2008 at the Des Moines Botanical Center and consists of a
two-day course followed by an exam. The exam will take place on Wednesday
immediately following the course. To remain a compliance inspector, attendance
and passing the exam are required.
Cost for the course is $30 for temporarily certified inspectors. If you are
not yet a temporarily certified compliance inspector, but want to be a certified
compliance inspector and have the requisite background and experience, e.g.,
Iowa licensed installer, you need to take this course. Complete the application
for Compliance Inspector on the UST Section website. This course will not be
offered again in the near future. The next renewal date for compliance
inspectors is January 1, 2009.
UST Refresher Course for Installers,
Installation Inspectors, Compliance Inspectors, Testers, Liners
On Thursday, August 7 and
Friday August 8, an 8 hour Refresher Course will be held for all licensed
installers, installation inspectors, testers, and liners. You need attend only
one day to complete your continuing education requirement. The course is being
repeated on Friday to make it easier for companies to send their employees over
two days so that not all employees are gone at the same time. Marcel Moreau
will be the presenter. Cost for the course is $30.
Please submit your renewal
applications to the DNR between now and the Refresher Course or bring your
application to the course along with a check. You will receive 8 hours
continuing education for completing the 8 hour Refresher Course. The next
license renewal date is January 1, 2010.
