Water Summary Update
Posted: 12/06/2012
DES MOINES—The state received about half of normal rainfall during November: 1.07 inches. Stream flows and lake levels continue to suffer. A little improvement on the Drought Monitor is visible, where the area of exceptional drought has been reduced from about 2.5 percent to 1.2 percent and other categories of drought intensity have dropped by similar levels.

As winter approaches and frost enters the soil profile, little or no additional recharge of groundwater is expected before spring.
