DES MOINES - The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is seeking input on a number of proposed rule changes for state parks, recreation areas and state forest campgrounds.
Proposed changes include rental fees for new or renovated lodge facilities and the warming house at Pilot Knob State Park; damage deposits for rental facilities, rules on dogs in cabins and yurts and prohibit unattended pets in campgrounds.
Changes also clarify stay dates for walk-in camping; remove the Friday/Saturday stay requirement for the Scherburne House at Springbrook State Park, and the requirement for proof of physical disability from a doctor.

Any interested person may make written suggestions or comments on the proposed amendments on or before July 31, 2012. A public hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m., July 31, 2012, in the Fourth Floor West Conference Room of the Wallace State Office Building in Des Moines.
During the hearing, persons may present their views either orally or in writing. At the hearing, persons will be asked to give their names and address for the record and to confine their remarks to the subject of the amendments.
Any persons who intend to attend the public hearing and have special needs, such as those related to hearing or mobility impairments, should contact the Department of Natural Resources and advise of specific needs.
