Public Comment Sought For Proposed State Parks Rules
Posted: 07/17/2012
DES MOINES - The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is seeking input on a number of proposed rule changes for state parks, recreation areas and state forest campgrounds.

Proposed changes include rental fees for new or renovated lodge facilities and the warming house at Pilot Knob State Park; damage deposits for rental facilities, rules on dogs in cabins and yurts and prohibit unattended pets in campgrounds.

Changes also clarify stay dates for walk-in camping; remove the Friday/Saturday stay requirement for the Scherburne House at Springbrook State Park, and the requirement for proof of physical disability from a doctor.

The proposed changes are posted on the DNR’s websit:

Any interested person may make written suggestions or comments on the proposed amendments on or before July 31, 2012.  Such written materials should be directed to Sherry Arntzen, State Parks Bureau, Department of Natural Resources, Wallace State Office Building, 502 East Ninth Street, Des Moines, Iowa 50319-0034; fax (515)281-6794; e-mail
