Campground Reopens in Time for July 4 Holiday
Posted: 07/03/2012
GLADBROOK - Union Grove State Park reopened June 29, after a major renovation to the campground.

The renovated campground features a new shower house and bathroom, nine campsites with electricity, water and sewer connections and two campsites with electricity among the 25 campsites available.

The $400,000 campground renovation project was delayed due to cleanup from a major windstorm and heavy rain in 2011 that damaged the park.

Part of the renovation included adding a new four season modern family cabin with air conditioning that opened on March 16.

Union Grove State Park campground is not on the reservation system for 2012, making campsites available on a first come, first served basis. Cabin reservation can be made by stopping by the park office or calling the park at 641-473-2556.

Union Grove State Park offers a swimming beach, picnicking, hiking, and fishing in a 110-acre lake. The park is about 30 minutes northeast of Marshalltown.
