Boil Advisory Lifted in Madrid, Still in Effect for Xenia
Posted: 05/02/2014

The city of Madrid in Boone County has lifted the boil advisory for the city only. Residents within the Madrid city limits can resume using tap water for drinking.

Residents outside the city limits in the Xenia rural water service area should continue to boil their water.

The city of Madrid corrected a problem with their filtration system detected on April 22, and completed flushing any remaining high turbidity or cloudy water out of the system Friday.

Cloudiness in the water can increase chances disease-causing organisms like bacteria viruses or parasites are also present. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms.

Xenia customers can check www.xeniawater.org/ for updates.
