Bypass to Upper Iowa River Today During Main Repair in Chester Water System
CHESTER – A six-inch sewer main has broken in the city of Chester in Howard County. Sewage will be bypassing to the Upper Iowa River from the lift station at the intersection of River Minnesota streets beginning at 9:30 a.m. June 14.
The volume of wastewater that will be bypassed is unknown, but repairs are expected to finish later today.
The Upper Iowa River is nearly out of its banks in Chester and public recreation is expected to be minimal this weekend. However, people and pets should avoid the area for at least 24 hours after the repair is finished.
