DES MOINES – The Iowa Urban Forestry Council is accepting nominations for its annual awards luncheon on April 3rd at the Stoney Creek Inn, in Johnston. The luncheon honors Iowa citizens or organizations that have worked to promote urban forestry. Nominations are due February 3.
“The council’s award luncheon is an excellent chance for a community to highlight and honor people doing important urban forestry work in their area,” says Shane Donegan, council staff member.
Award categories include:
- Outstanding Volunteer
- Outstanding Professional
- Outstanding Youth Project/Program
- Outstanding Community Organization
- Outstanding Local Partner
- Outstanding Media Partner
- Outstanding Civic Leader

About the Iowa Urban Tree Council
The Iowa Urban Tree Council is a volunteer council that works to advance the conservation and maintenance of urban forests throughout Iowa. The Council provides assistance and advice to the state urban and community forestry program, administered by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. They work in partnership with all sectors to address local urban forestry issues by bringing together professionals, academics, government, industry, volunteers, and the general public.
