Sewer Main Leak Found in Glenwood
Posted: 04/10/2014
GLENWOOD – City of Glenwood staff discovered a corrosion hole in a sewer main near the intersection of Tyson and South Vine streets while they were jetting sewer lines in the area. The hole likely developed sometime this winter and the amount of leaked sewage is unknown.

The hole has been temporarily patched, but it appears to be dripping. City staff is catching the liquid in buckets to dispose of it at the wastewater treatment plant until a permanent fix can be completed.

A few solids were identified in Keg Creek. Staff has limed areas impacted. Residents and pets should avoid the area until the leak is permanently fixed.

The city plans to hire a contractor to reroute the sewer main. After the sewer main is rerouted, the corroded main will be removed.

The DNR will continue to monitor the situation.
