MidAmerican Energy Grant Benefits Big Creek State Park
Posted: 04/15/2014

Big Creek State Park has been awarded a grant from MidAmerican Energy’s Trees Please program for the third year in a row to purchase trees and materials needed to plant the trees in the park.

“We are using the grant funds to go to local growers to purchase larger stock to replace damaged trees in the park,” said Chad Kelchen, manager at Big Creek State Park.

Kelchen said prior grants have gone to planting 20, 8 to 12 foot native hardwoods, and another 20 will be added this year.

“The Trees Please program allows us to use larger stock and that will make a huge difference in the park,” Kelchen said.

The trees will be added this spring.
