Bike Path in Cedar Falls Affected by Wastewater Discharge
CEDAR FALLS – A wastewater bypass occurred at the city of Cedar Falls early this morning due to an electrical problem.
After pumps failed, several thousand gallons of untreated wastewater backed up in the downtown treatment plant and overflowed onto ground near the plant, reaching a public bike path and a storm water detention pond.
The overflow began about 6:40 a.m. It took the city about half an hour to correct the problem. The city cleaned up and disinfected the area around the bike path, so it should be safe for people to use.
