Ambrose A. Call State Park - Kossuth County

Backbone State Park - Delaware County
  • CABIN CLOSURE: Cabins 9-12 and A-D will be closed from February 1, 2016 through May 1, 2016. These Cabins are going to be remodeled during that time. (POSTED 11/24/2015)
  • Park gates at the west, east, and north entrances of the park are closed starting November 18, 2015. Gates will remain closed until April 1, 2016 or weather permitting. The south entrance to the Cabins and modern campground is open and roads are plowed during the winter. Six Pines Campground is located outside of the west gate and roads are plowed.
Beeds Lake State Park - Franklin County
  • The campground shower house and restrooms have been closed for the season
Bellevue State Park - Jackson County
  • Winter Closure: The water has been turned off and the modern restroom/shower building is closed for the winter. The dump station water is also off for the season. The water will be turned on and facilities reopened in mid-April. (Posted 10/19/2015)
Big Creek State Park - Polk County
  • Flush facilities will be closed on October 15, 2015 and will remain closed until approximately April 15, 2015. Facilities with out water will remain open, this includes (pit latrines, shelters, boat ramps, and playground)
Brushy Creek State Recreation Area - Webster County
  • Restroom and shower facilities will be closed for the season on October 15, 2015. Pit toilets are available in all 3 campgrounds. Water hydrants and electricity remain on throughout the year for off-season camping. During the winter season please call ahead (515) 543 8298 to ensure access to a campsite.
Elk Rock State Park - Marion County
  • As of October 15th 2015 all modern restrooms and shower buildings and dump station have been closed for the season. The campground electricity and water hydrants remain on year round. Portable toilets will be provided during the closure. The facilities will be reopened April 15th 2016.
Fairport State Recreation Area - Muscatine County
  • Winter Closures: Fairport State Recreation Area is closed for the winter due to campground/boat ramp renovations. Wildcat Den State Park following facilities are closed: Pine Creek Grist Mill, Melpine Schoolhouse, modern restroom, water hydrants in the campground and day-use area. There are pit latrines located in the campground and upper picnic area that will remain open.
Geode State Park - Henry County
  • Restroom and Shower Facilities for the Campground will be closed Monday Nov. 2nd, 2015. Electricity remains on and the water hydrant at the front of the campground remains open thru the winter. There is a pit latrine open during winter months located near campsite 80. The Beach Shelter restrooms are closed for the season. The shelter will not be available for reservations while repairs are made to a sewer line. The shelter is available on a first come, first served basis.
Green Valley State Park - Union County
  • WINTER CLOSURES: As of October 21, 2015 the shower/restroom buidings and cabins have been closed for the season. Water hydrants have been shut off until leaks can be repaired. Electricity is still available in the campground. A pit latrine at the north end of the campground is also open. Facilities will re-open around April 15, 2016.
Honey Creek State Park - Appanoose County
  • SHOWER BUILDING CLOSURE: The North shower building will be shut down do to construction in early spring. The South shower building is currently closed and will open around April 15, 2016. (Posted 12/8/2015)
Lake Ahquabi State Park - Warren County

Lake Anita State Park - Cass County
  • All modern shower and restroom facilities have been shut down for the winter. Camping is still available during the off season. All electricity, water hydrants, and sewer connections are available in the campground. Pit latrines are available at the boat ramps, picnic area and the parking lot at the dam.
Lake Darling State Park - Washington County
  • Tentative road construction is scheduled for the new year round cabins and the current camping cabins for the Spring of 2016. Park Staff will work with customers who have already made reservations as their reservation dates draw closer. No new reservations will be allowed to be made until construction is complete. Lake Manawa State Park - Pottawattamie County

Lake of Three Fires State Park - Taylor County
  • All facilities have been winterized for the winter. The only water available while camping will be hydrants only. This post will be removed when we open the facilities in the spring.
Lake Wapello State Park - Davis County
  • Lake Wapello State Park campground will be closed for renovation starting September 7,2015. It will reopen in the spring of 2016, depending on weather.
Ledges State Park - Boone County
  • The Canyon Drive in Ledges State Park is closed to vehicle traffic due to snow & ice accumulation on roadways and in the stream crossings. Park visitors are still welcome to hike into the canyon; but freezing temperatures, snow, and ice cause the water crossings to freeze and make vehicle passage unsafe. Maquoketa Caves State Park - Jackson County
  • The caves in the park will be closed from October 15th to April 15th due to bat hibernation.
McIntosh Woods State Park - Cerro Gordo County

Nine Eagles State Park - Decatur County

Palisades-Kepler State Park - Linn County

Pikes Peak State Park - Clayton County
  • The water is turned off and the modern restrooms and shower facilities are closed. There is no water available at the park. The outhouse at the south end of the campground is open year-round. The electricity at the campsites stays on year-round. (Posted 10/28/2015)
Pilot Knob State Park - Hancock County

Pine Lake State Park - Hardin County
  • RESTROOM AVAILBILITY: Modern restrooms and showers in the camp area and throughout the park have been closed for the season. The campground remains open, and electricity and water from hydrants are available year-round. A vault toilet is available for off season use South of the camp area near the playground. Pleasant Creek State Recreation Area - Linn County

  • Due to the construction of the lake restoration project, the Lodge and East Shelter will only be available for advanced reservations through the park office. The construction of the lake may be occurring 7 days per week, during daylight hours. Expect a certain noise level and traffic delays due to slow moving equipment on park roads. The construction will be occurring from May 1, 2016 through September 30, 2016. Red Haw State Park - Lucas County
  • The campground at Red Haw State Park will be closed for an extended period this spring to allow for campsite renovation and electrical upgrades to 18 campsites in the west end of the campground. Non-reservable camping will be allowed before construction begins, weather permitting, some time in April. This notice will be updated as more precise construction dates are known. Springbrook State Park - Guthrie County
  • Springbrook State Park will be CLOSED from Tuesday, September 8, 2015 through Thursday, June 9, 2016 for road/bridge construction. Access to the campground, shelters, beach, picnic areas, public hunting, and trails will not be allowed. This closure does not restrict access to the Sherburne Cabin or the Springbrook Conservation Education Center facilities. It is likely that construction may be completed prior to June 9. Stephens State Forest - Lucas County
  • EQUESTRIAN TRAIL CLOSURE: Effective December 30, 2015, the equestrian trails are closed due to wet conditions. This notice will be removed when the trails have been re-opened. Questions can be directed to the forest headquarters at 641-774-4559 (updated 12/30/15).
Stone State Park - Woodbury County
  • The campground modern restroom and showers are closed for the season. Water hydrants, electricity, and a pit toilet are still available until winter weather forces us to close the road to the campground.
Union Grove State Park - Tama County
  • A Lake Restoration Project will be taking place at Union Grove State Park. The drawdown of the lake will start around June 1, 2015. The lake should be re-filled by late spring of 2016. During the drawdown period, campsite reservations will be on a first come/first serve basis.
