Getting Things Done - Strengthening Communities Encouraging Responsibility - Expanding Opportunity
AmeriCorps is an opportunity to make a big difference in your life and in the lives of those around you. It’s a chance to apply your skills and ideals toward helping others and meeting critical needs in the community.
Each year, AmeriCorps offers over 75,000 opportunities for adults of all ages and backgrounds to serve through a network of partnerships with local and national nonprofit groups.AmeriCorps members address critical needs in communities all across America.
As an AmeriCorps member, you’ll gain new skills and experiences—and you’ll also find the tremendous satisfaction that comes from helping others. In addition, members who complete their service earn a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award to pay for college, graduate school, or to pay back qualified student loans. Some AmeriCorps members may also receive a modest living allowance during their term of service.
Since 1999, the
Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Keepers of the Land AmeriCorps program has led Iowans in environmental stewardship. Through this effort, Iowans have cared for our natural resources and created environmental awareness in our state parks and forests with Iowa's wildlife and fisheries. In cooperation with our community partners we protect and preserve the natural resources in Iowa for future generations.
Keepers of the Land AmeriCorps positions are available statewide with terms of service ranging from three to twelve months.
