AmeriCorps is a national service program that provides thousands of Americans of all ages and backgrounds with education awards in exchange for three months to one year of community engagement.
Each year AmeriCorps members serve the DNR and its partners by providing:
- Hands-on experiential environmental education;
- Public and private sustainable land use practices, projects, and initiatives;
- Wildlife habitat enhancement and prairie restoration practices, projects, and initiatives; and
- Volunteer Recruitment and involvement in natural resource conservation.
This year, more than 100 individuals will serve as AmeriCorps members with the DNR.
The agency would never been able to meet our goal date for completion of our project if it wasn't for the hard work and dedication of our AmeriCorps member. They made all the difference!
