Expanding Opportunity - Each year, AmeriCorps offers over 75,000 opportunities for adults of all ages and backgrounds to serve through a network of partnerships with local and national nonprofit groups.
Strengthening Communities - AmeriCorps members address critical needs in communities all across America.
Encouraging Responsibility - As an AmeriCorps member, you'll gain new experiences - and you'll also find the tremendous satisfaction that comes from helping others. In addition, members who complete their service earn a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award to pay for college, graduate school, or to pay back qualified student loans. Some AmeriCorps members may also receive a modest living allowance during their term of service.
AmeriCorps & the Iowa DNR
Since 1999, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Keepers of the Land AmeriCorps program has led Iowans in environmental stewardship.
Through this effort, Iowans have cared for our natural resources and created environmental awareness in our state parks and forests with Iowa's wildlife and fisheries. In cooperation with our community partners we protect and preserve the natural resources in Iowa for future generations.
Keepers of Land AmeriCorps positions are available statewide with terms of service ranging from three to twelve months. Now is the time to become a member of the National Service Corps all while gaining valuable experience serving as part of the Department of Natural Resources AmeriCorps program.

Getting Things Done. Iowa AmeriCorps members have the unique responsibility of teaching, protecting, and preserving our natural environment while serving the needs of the community. We are hard-working and motivated students, teachers, leaders, and volunteers. In Iowa and across the nation, AmeriCorps members are working together to get things done.
Alaska Yukon River Disaster Response. 9 AmeriCorps members serving with the Iowa DNR were deployed to Galena, Alaska in response to massive flooding caused by a historic "ice-jam" on the Yukon River. Members assisted in the cleanup of inundated homes, collected and distributed donations to local families, and cleared tons of debris. Iowa DNR AmeriCorps members were deployed to three national disasters in the 2012-2013 grant year.
