District-Wide Trout Stream Fishing Report

Trout streams are in excellent condition. Increased hatches of caddis flies and gnats have been observed. Anglers have been taking trout on #14 caddis flies and #16 or #18 Hendrickson, Adams or Griffiths gnat. One of the key's to a successful catch is to match the size of the fly with the critter hatching. Spin fishers using small crankbaits fished through deeper holes are taking nice catches.
Brook Trout - Good: Brook trout are intolerant of siltation, turbidity, and elevated water temperatures.
Brown Trout - Good: Brown trout eat aquatic and terrestrial insects, snails, crustaceans (including crayfish), and fish.
Rainbow Trout - Good: Rainbow trout have a broad pink stripe on both sides and spots covering sides, dorsal fin and tail.
