The Iowa Geological & Water Survey just completed an investigation detailing groundwater movement and susceptibility of the Silurian-Devonian aquifer around Cedar Falls, Iowa (TIS 55). The report utilizes our current understanding of geology, groundwater chemistry, groundwater movement, and geophysics to explore the city's source of drinking water.

A one-year investigation of the geology and hydrology of the Silurian aquifer in east-central Iowa(WRI 5) was undertaken to provide a more quantitative assessment of groundwater availability, and to construct a groundwater flow model for the Silurian aquifer that can be used as a planning tool for future water resource development.

The Iowa Geological & Water Survey's three-dimensional geologic mapping for the Upper Iowa River Watershed (TIS 54) is now available in digital format.  The report and associated GIS coverages describe the bedrock "plumbing system" of the watershed and how it relates to the subsurface movement of contaminants to groundwater and streams.
