AWLS allows educators of all types (teachers, scout leaders; etc.) to experience a variety of outdoor skills. If you are inexperienced in the outdoors and always wanted to learn, or if you are already at a higher level of outdoor skill and want to learn more, AWLS is for you.
BOW - Becoming an Outdoors-Woman

Becoming an Outdoors-Woman ("BOW") is a workshop aimed primarily at women; however, it is an opportunity for anyone 18 years or older to learn outdoor skills usually associated with hunting and fishing, but useful for many outdoor pursuits.
Fly Tying & Fishing

The Fly Fishing & Tying Outdoor Experience is designed to allow inexperienced fly fishers and tyers the opportunity to obtain the knowledge and skills to fully appreciate these activities. Participants age 16 or older (unless accompanied by an adult) will explore all aspects of the sport with hands-on activities including tying flies, casting a fly rod, and hopefully catching the big one!
HACC - Hunting and Conservation Camp for Boys
June 22-24, 2011 and July 27-29, 2011
The Hunting and Conservation Camp is designed to expose 12 - 15 year old young men to the outdoors through hands-on experiences in a positive and supportive environment. It includes all aspects of the Iowa outdoors and allows them to have experiences to carry the rest of their lives.
MOE - Mentored Outdoor Experience

Mentored Outdoor Experience: Deer Hunt (MOE) is designed to allow inexperienced deer hunters the opportunity to obtain the knowledge to allow them to fully appreciate their activity, as well as participate in a controlled deer hunt with a mentor.
OJ - Outdoor Journey for Girls
June 15-17, July 12-14 and August 3-5, 2011
Outdoor Journey for Girls ("OJ") is a 3-day, 2-night workshop aimed at introducing outdoor skills to girls ages 12-15 in a supportive, learning environment where they have opportunities to try things "hands-on". The program is held at the IDNR's Springbrook Education Center, north of Guthrie Center.
Youth Hunter Education Challenge
June 10-12, 2011
Iowa YHEC (Youth Hunter Education Challenge) is a weekend-long event that takes place each June at the 4-H Education and Natural Resources Center in Madrid, Iowa. Youth from all over Iowa come to compete in eight events, learn about the outdoors, and have fun with other youth and adults that have similar interests. Registration deadline is May 1, 2011.
