Construction/Park Lake Levels/Weather Related/Other Closures

Big Creek State Park - Polk County
  • Flush facilities will be closed on October 15,2015 and will remain closed until approximately April 15,2015. Facilities with out water will remain open, this includes (pit latrines, shelters, boat ramps, and playground)
Brushy Creek State Recreation Area - Webster County
  • TARGET RANGE CLOSED: The Brushy Creek Target Ranger will be closed Wednesday, October 28th, 2015.
  • Restroom and shower facilities will be closed for the season on October 15,2015. Pit toilets are available in all 3 campgrounds. Water hydrants and electricity remain on throughout the year for off-season camping. During the winter season please call ahead (515) 543 8298 to ensure access to a campsite.
  • The swimming beach at Brushy Creek will be closed to public access in 2015 for a major beach renovation. The project includes a new road/parking lot, cabanas and a restroom. We apologize for the inconvenience. The Beach Campground will remain open and accessible.
George Wyth State Park - Black Hawk County
  • CAMPGROUND SHOWER BUILDING CLOSURE: Effective September 14, 2015 the shower building will be closed for maintenance and will be closed for the remainder of the season. A port o potty will be available until November 30, 2015. For lodge reservations, please contact the park office at 319-232-5505 for availability due to some projects that are planned in that area. The campground will be open and campsites will be available on a first come, first serve basis.
Green Valley State Park - Union County
  • The North Shelter is closed until further notice due to construction of new paved trail.
Lake Darling State Park - Washington County
  • The restroom facilities in the campground will be closed for the season on Thursday, October 15th. The hydrants throughout the campground and electricity will remain on all year. (Posted 10/6/15)
Lake Wapello State Park - Davis County
  • Lake Wapello State Park campground will be closed for renovation starting September 7,2015. It will reopen in the spring of 2016, depending on weather.
Pine Lake State Park - Hardin County
  • Trail Closure: The bike trail at Pine Lake State Park will be closed from the North side of the camp area North to the trailhead on Highway S-56 due to a construction project. The project is expected to be completed and the trail will re-open at the end of October. (POSTED 9/21/15)
  • Modern showers and restrooms in the camp area will be closed for winterization on October 15th, 2015. The campground remains open to camping year-round. Electricity remains on year-round and water is available from frost-free hydrants. A vault toilet is available year round, and is located South of the camp area at the upper boat ramp area. Pleasant Creek State Recreation Area - Linn County
  • A Lake Restoration Project will be taking place at Pleasant Creek State Recreation Area. The drawdown (lowered about 15 feet) of the lake is scheduled to start in late August to mid-September. The drawdown will take about 3-4 weeks. If you have any questions, please contact the park office at 319-436-7716. (UPDATED 8/14/2015)
Springbrook State Park - Guthrie County
  • Springbrook State Park will be CLOSED from Tuesday, September 8, 2015 through Saturday, April 30, 2016 for road/bridge construction. When work begins, access to the campground, shelters, beach, picnic areas, public hunting, and trails will not be allowed. This closure does not restrict access to the Sherburne Cabin or the Springbrook Conservation Education Center facilities. Union Grove State Park - Tama County
  • A Lake Restoration Project will be taking place at Union Grove State Park. The drawdown of the lake will start around June 1, 2015. The lake should be re-filled by late spring of 2016. During the drawdown period, campsite reservations will be on a first come/first serve basis. Please contact the Park Manger, Roger Thompson at 641 473-2556 to make your reservations for the Family Modern Cabin and for the West Shelter.(Posted 2/12/2015)
