Brushy Creek State Recreation Area - Webster County
  • Winter Closure: Restroom and Shower Buildings are closed for the season. Water hydrants and electricity remain on throughout the year. The North Equine Campground has a permanent pit latrine available. (posted 10/15/2013)
  • As of April 14, 2014 trails are temporarily closed for equestrian and bike use due to wet conditions. This bulletin will be removed when trails are re-opened.
Clear Lake State Park - Cerro Gordo County
  • Winter Closure: The water is turned off to the entire park. The shower buildings and dump stations are closed as well. The electricity will remain on through the winter. (posted 10/21/2013)
Dolliver Memorial State Park - Webster County
  • Winter Closure: The modern shower building and restroom facilities have been closed for the season. Pit latrines are still available. (Posted 10/17/2013)
Elinor Bedell State Park - Dickinson County
  • Winter Closure: Water hook ups and restrooms are closed for the season - Won't reopen until April 15 - May 1, 2014. (Posted 10/15/2013)
Emerson Bay State Recreation Area - Dickinson County
  • Winter Closure: The water has been turned off at the campground, and the modern restrooms/shower buildings and dump station facilities are now closed for the season. Facilities will not be opened and water turned on until mid-April, depending upon the weather. (Posted 10/15/2013)
Geode State Park - Henry County
  • The wastewater system for the campground and beach shelter facilties will be closed and updated with construction occurring Spring and early Summer of 2014. As a result of this there will be no restroom, shower, or dump station facilities until the project is completed. There will be limited facilties during this time. Water will be available at the campground hydrants for campers, and electrical service at the electrical sites. All campsites will be available on a first come first served basis until project completion. No reservations will be taken for campsites or the beach shelter during this time. Project completion is expected by mid June but is weather dependent. (updated 2/10/2014
Gull Point State Park - Dickinson County
  • Winter Closure: The water has been turned off at the campground, and the modern restrooms/shower buildings and dump station facilities are now closed for the season. Facilities will not be opened and water turned on until mid-April, depending upon the weather. (Posted 10/15/2013)
Lake Ahquabi State Park - Warren County
  • Winter Closure: The shower buildings and Lodge are closed for the season. Frost free hydrants, dump stations and pit vault latrines remain open. (Posted 10/15/2013)
Lake Anita State Park - Cass County
  • Winter Closure: All modern restrooms and showers have been shut down for the season at Lake Anita State Park. Electricity, frost free hydrants, and sewer drains are still on and available in the campground. Pit latrines are available at the boat ramps, picnic area, and dam. (Posted 10/29/2013)
Lake Darling State Park - Washington County
  • Lake Darling State Park is currently open for day use only. A major renovation project is underway and the park will close when the renovations begin. It is anticipated to be closed the summer of 2013 and will remain closed until renovation of the lake, parking lots, and roads are completed either late fall of 2013 or spring of 2014. Lake Manawa State Park - Pottawattamie County
  • Winter Closure: The modern shower building and restrooms are now closed for the season. They will reopen in mid to late April 2014. The pit latrine located near site 70 will be available through the winter. (posted 10/15/2013)
Lake of Three Fires State Park - Taylor County

Lewis and Clark State Park - Monona County
  • Winter Closure: The modern restroom/shower facility and RV dump station have been closed for the winter. They will re-open mid-April depending on the weather. A pit latrine is available in the campground. Frost free hydrants and electricity will stay on through the winter. (posted 10/31/2013)
Maquoketa Caves State Park - Jackson County
  • The caves will be open April 15. Visitor’s to Maquoketa Caves State Park will once again have the opportunity to explore the remarkable cave features of the park. There is a short program that will help to prevent the spread of White Nose Syndrome by humans. Attendance at the program is required for those who plan to enter the caves. Marble Beach State Recreation Area - Dickinson County
  • Winter Closure: The water has been turned off at the campground, and the modern restrooms/shower buildings and dump station facilities are now closed for the season. Facilities will not be opened and water turned on until mid-April, depending upon the weather. (Posted 10/15/2013)
McIntosh Woods State Park - Cerro Gordo County
  • Winter Closure: Water facilities are now CLOSED for the season. However, a pit vault bldg. (toilet) is available near boat ramp area about one block from camp area. Also, a water hydrant is located near seasonal cabins that is ON for filling your units; the dump station is open but NO water is available for rinsing. (Posted 10/29/2013)
Palisades-Kepler State Park - Linn County
  • Winter Closure: The water has been turned off and the modern restrooms and shower building has been closed for the winter. The water will be turned on and facilities opened in late-April, depending on the weather. (Posted 10/29/2013)
Pikes Peak State Park - Clayton County
  • Winter Closure: The water has been turned off and the modern restrooms and shower building have been closed for the winter. The outhouse in the campground is open year-round. The water will be turned on and the facilities opened by May 1st, or sooner depending upon the weather. (Posted 10/29/2013)
Pilot Knob State Park - Hancock County
  • The campground is currently closed for renovations. Reservations can be made starting February 19th for May 19, 2014 camping. Reserveable sites 49 & 50 (non-electric) are extremely muddy due to the construction. For additional information contact the park office at 641-581-4835. (Posted 02/13/14)
Pine Lake State Park - Hardin County
  • Winter Closure: The modern restroom and shower buildings are closed. Frost-free hydrants and electricity will remain on. The RV dump station is open but does not have rinsing water available. (Posted 11/1/2013)
Pleasant Creek State Recreation Area - Linn County
  • Winter Closure: Restrooms and shower buildings closed for the winter, effective October 21, 2013. Water hydrants to remain on until October 31, 2013. Electric to campsites to be shut off with first measureable snowfall. Look for facilities to be available about April 18, 2014, weather depending. (Posted 10/29/2013)
Prairie Rose State Park - Shelby County
  • Winter Closure: The shower building will be closed for the season as of Oct. 21st; providing the weather holds till then. The building will re-open mid to late April of 2014. (posted 10/15/2013)
Red Haw State Park - Lucas County
  • Winter Closure: The campground shower building and flush toilets will be closed for the season on Tuesday, October 15, 2013. The building will reopen in mid-April 2014, weather permitting. (posted 10/15/2013)
Shimek State Forest - Van Buren County
  • EQUESTRIAN TRAIL CLOSURE: Effective April 14, 2014 the trails have been closed due to wet trail conditions. This bulletin will be removed when the trails have re-opened. (updated 4-14-2014)
Stephens State Forest - Lucas County
  • EQUESTRIAN TRAIL CLOSURE: Effective March 10, 2014, the equestrian trails are closed due to wet conditions. This notice will be removed when the trails have been re-opened. Questions can be directed to the forest headquarters at 641-774-4559 (updated 3/10/14).
Viking Lake State Park - Montgomery County
  • Winter Closure: Both shower buildings are closed for the winter. We will open the restrooms back up in the spring of 2014. (Posted 10/29/2013)
Volga River State Recreation Area - Fayette County
  • Winter Closure: As of Oct. 20, 2013 the shower bldg. will be closed and the water shut off for the season. (Posted 10/15/2013)
  • The multi-use trails will be closed due to wet conditions and spring thaw. The trails are planned to be opened by May 1, 2014. For updates on trails conditions, call the Park Office at 563-425-4161.(posted 3/17/14)
Wapsipinicon State Park - Jones County
  • Winter Closure: Water to the restrooms and drinking fountains has been turned off. Electricity is still on at the campsites. (Posted 10/21/2013)
Wildcat Den State Park - Muscatine County
  • Winter Closure: The water is off for the season.
Wilson Island State Recreation Area - Pottawattamie County
  • Wilson Island is closed for repairs due to flooding in 2011. This includes all activities and park facilities. The anticipated opening is early June of 2014. For updates call the park office at 712-642-2069. (updated 3/5/2014)
Yellow River State Forest - Allamakee County
  • Equestrian Campground Closure: Due to the flooding that occurred June 2013, Creekside equestrian campground will remain closed until the Thursday before Memorial Day Weekend (May 22, 2014). Frontier Equestrian Campground is available for camping. All equestrian trails will be open when weather conditions improve. (Posted 2/25/2014)
