Ambrose A. Call State Park - Kossuth County

Brushy Creek State Recreation Area - Webster County
  • As of April 18, 2015 trails are temporarily closed for equestrian and bike use due to wet conditions. The all-weather gravel Lake Trail (12 miles)remains open. This bulletin will be removed when trails are re-opened. For trail closure information you may also contact the park office at 515 543-8298.
  • The swimming beach at Brushy Creek will be closed to public access in 2015 for a major beach renovation. The project includes a new road/parking lot and a restroom and concession building. We apologize for the inconvenience. The Beach Campground will remain open and accessible.
Elk Rock State Park - Marion County
  • RESTROOM AND SHOWER BUILDING CLOSURE: As of October 20th 2014 all modern restrooms and shower buildings will be closed for the season with a re opening date of April 20th 2015. Portable toilets will be provided during this time. The campground electricity and water hydrants will remain on year round.
Geode State Park - Henry County
  • The wastewater system for the campground and beach shelter facilties will be closed and updated with construction in 2014. As a result of this there will be no restroom, shower, or dump station facilities until the project is completed. There will be limited facilties during this time. Water will be available at the campground hydrants for campers, and electrical service at the electrical sites. All campsites will be available on a first come first served basis until project completion in the Spring of 2015. No reservations will be taken for campsites or the beach shelter during this time. Lake Keomah State Park - Mahaska County
  • Lake Keomah State Park will be temporarily closed after the 2014 recreation season to facilitate the reconstruction of the park roadways. The Construction project which is slated to start after Labor Day, will run through the entire portion of the 2015 recreation season. Updated: 8/18/2014 3:00 P.M.
Lake Macbride State Park - Johnson County
  • Possible Beach Closures on Weekends and Holidays at Lake Macbride State Park Due to high visitation and limited parking at the beach area, expect a beach closure on weekends and holidays, access to the beach may be closed to park visitors for up to 2 hours. During these times, people in vehicles will be stopped at the park entrance and asked to return to the beach at a later time or asked to visit one of the other beaches in Johnson County such as Sandy Beach, Sugar Bottom, West Overlook or Kent Park. Make weekend and holiday plans accordingly.
Lake of Three Fires State Park - Taylor County
  • (Posted 4/2/15) The trails at Lake of Three Fires are closed due to wet conditions associated with recent rainfall. This alert will be removed or updated when the trails open.
Ledges State Park - Boone County
  • The Canyon Drive is currently closed to vehicle traffic. Heavy rainfall causing flash flooding has made the creek flowing through the canyon area of Ledges rise to levels unsafe for vehicle traffic. Park visitors are allowed to hike into the canyon area at this time. The campground, trails, many other roads & parking lots, and both open shelters remain accessible by vehicle.   • Facilities: The modern restrooms/showers in the Ledges campground are OPEN for the season. Water is ON to the hydrants in the campground and the RV dump station is open as well. The Lower Ledges modern restroom is also open. Oak Woods picnic area & Henning Shelter restrooms remain closed while park staff work to restore water and clean them. (Updated 4/15/2015)
Mines of Spain State Recreation Area and E. B. Lyons Interpretive Center - Dubuque County
  • Construction has started on the new property adjacent to the E. B. Lyons Interpretive Center. Construction consists of grading for new parking lots, ADA trail, shop and other amenities. It is advised that park visitors stay out of the construction area. The area consists of about a 40 acre area. Call the park office at 563-556-0620 if you have Questions about the construction.
Nine Eagles State Park - Decatur County
  • The Modern Campground will be closed due to a new shower/restroom facility being installed this spring. This posting will be removed once the new facility is completed and the campground is open. Thank you! (Posted 2/12/2015)
Pikes Peak State Park - Clayton County
  • ROAD CONSTRUCTION: The half-mile park entrance road (County Road X-56) from the T-intersection of the Great River Road to the park entrance will be under construction from 4/27/2015 until approximately 7/31/2015. You may encounter delays. (Posted 4/17/2015)
  • The water is on, however, the modern restrooms and shower facilities are still closed. We are hoping to have everything open by Friday, April 24th, 2015. There is an outhouse at the south end of the campground. (Posted 4/17/2015)
Pilot Knob State Park - Hancock County

Pine Lake State Park - Hardin County
  • RAGBRAI EVENT STOPPING IN ELDORA JULY 21, 2015. -- RAGBRAI (Register's Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa) will stop and overnight in Eldora on July 21. The event draws 10,000 bicyclists and spectators. Regular park visitors should be aware that the park could be very busy that day with the extra people associated with the bicycle event.
  • INSTALLATION OF NEW DUMP STATION: A new dump station is going to be installed this spring and should be completed by May 1, 2015. During this time campers may experience extra noise due to the installation of the dump station. Campsites 52, 53, 54, and 69 will be affected by this project and will be closed until July 1, 2015. Pleasant Creek State Recreation Area - Linn County
  • A Lake Restoration Project will be taking place at Pleasant Creek State Recreation Area. The drawdown of the lake is scheduled to start around August 15, 2015. The lake should back to normal level by late spring of 2016. If you have any questions, please contact the park office at 319 436-7716.
Stephens State Forest - Lucas County
  • EQUESTRIAN TRAIL CLOSURE: Effective March 11, 2015, the equestrian trails are closed due to wet conditions. This notice will be removed when the trails have been re-opened. Questions can be directed to the forest headquarters at 641-774-4559 (updated 4/20/15).
Union Grove State Park - Tama County
  • A Lake Restoration Project will be taking place at Union Grove State Park. The drawdown of the lake will start around June 1, 2015. The lake should be re-filled by late spring of 2016. During the drawdown period, campsite reservations will be on a first come/first serve basis. Please contact the Park Manger, Roger Thompson at 641 473-2556 to make your reservations for the Family Modern Cabin and for the West Shelter.(Posted 2/12/2015)
Volga River State Recreation Area - Fayette County
  • EQUESTRIAN TRAIL CLOSURE: Effective April 20, 2015 the equestrian trails have been closed due to recent rains. This bulletin will be removed when the trails have been re-opened.
  • WATER TURNED OFF TO CAMPGROUNDS:Effective October 16, 2014, water for the campgrounds will be turned of for the winter. Water will be turned back on for the camping season around Wednesday, April 22, 2015.
Walnut Woods State Park - Polk County

  • The Campground at Walnut Woods State Park was reopened after new road construction on October 06, 2014. Access to the campground is from the East park entrance; The West park entrance is closed for ongoing new road construction. Access for lodge reservations and other day use activities will remain available using the East entrance to the park. Waubonsie State Park - Fremont County
  • Equestrian trails closed Effective 04/17/15 the trails have been closed due to a number of large trees that have fallen and need to be move to provide for safe riding. we hope to have a machine next week weather permitting to help clear the trails this notice will be removed when the trails are open again
Yellow River State Forest - Allamakee County
  • LOWER SADDLE LOOP EQUESTRIAN TRAIL CLOSED FOR CONSTRUCTION: (Posted 4-3-15) A 0.7 mile section of trail will take additional time due to the location on a layer of shale bedrock.
