Backbone State Park - Delaware County

Big Creek State Park - Polk County
- The Big Creek Snowmobile Trail will be closed for the 2012 recreation season due to trail damage. For additional information contact the park office at 515-984-6473. (updated 5/7/2012)

Emerson Bay State Recreation Area - Dickinson County

George Wyth State Park - Black Hawk County

Green Valley State Park - Union County
- The dredging project at Green Valley is nearing completion. The lake has been refilling since September and is currently 7 feet below full. Boats can access the lake at the main boat ramp near the beach. The other boat ramps, beach and ski zone will remain closed until the water levels are near full. Lake Darling State Park - Washington County
- Lake Darling is having the campground renovated and will be closed for the next two years. The cabins will also be closed. The lodge can still be reserved. For updated information please contact the park office at 319-694-2323. (updated 5/10/2012)
Lake Macbride State Park - Johnson County
- BEACH LODGE: The Beach Lodge can only be reserved from May 1 through the Thursday before Memorial Day and from the day after Labor day until October 15. Reservations must be made through the park office at 319-624-2200. The Beach Lodge will be closed the remainder of the time. (posted 2/14/2012)
Ledges State Park - Boone County
- The Canyon Road is currently closed to vehicle traffic due to extensive flood damage. Park visitors are welcome to hike into the Canyon area. Canyon Road flood debris cleanup has been scheduled and should be completed no later than July 1, 2012. All trails and both shelters are open for use. The campground is open for primitive camping only as the modern restrooms/showers remain closed from the winter season. For more information please contact the park office at 515-432-1852. Maquoketa Caves State Park - Jackson County
- Beginning April 14th visitor’s to Maquoketa Caves State Park will once again have the opportunity to explore the remarkable cave features of the park. Interpreters are being hired to give guided tours and to facilitate the WNS (white-nose syndrome) Awareness Program. This is a short program that will help to prevent the spread of White Nose Syndrome by humans. Attendance at the program is required for those who plan to enter the caves. The park will be hosting a grand opening celebration on the 14th of April from 9 AM – 1 PM. Pancakes and home-made syrup will be served as well as several educational programs. Visitors will enjoy guided cave tours and be able to explore the caves for the first time since August of 2009.

Springbrook State Park - Guthrie County
- The Scherburne cabin is closed to reservations until 5/15/2012 for road repairs. The campground will be closed starting 9/10/2012 for installation of a new sewer line. (posted 3/14/2012)
