Formerly Captive Deer, Elk Pose Health Risk to Wild Deer in Iowa - 3/12/2011
DES MOINES - Iowa wildlife officials have been tracking elk in and around the Yellow River State Forest that are likely escapees from a captive herd in Allamakee County. One elk was killed by state conservation officers last week, but at least four remain at large, which gives state officials cause for concern about the potential impacts from disease to Iowa's white tailed deer herd and domestic livestock industry.

Wastewater Bypass In Farmersburg Caused By Power Outage - 3/12/2011
DES MOINES - The city of Farmersburg reported that a power outage resulted in a bypass of 2500 gallons of wastewater at its pump station in the city. The wastewater was pumped to Howards Creek on the north side of the city.

New State Park Reservation System Begins February 17 - 3/12/2011
DES MOINES - The new system for Iowa state park campsite, cabin and lodge reservations will debut Thursday at 7 a.m. central time. The system will require users to create a new account, unless the user had an account on the national website, Reserve America.
