Jacob Stiles, 14, of Batavia, has won a new Gen-X Bow valued at $275 after his name was drawn on Jan. 19. Stiles will pick up his right handed, blue Gen-X Bow from Buck Hollow Sports, in Pella.

To enter the drawing, students were required to write one to two paragraphs describing why they enjoy archery or want to learn more about archery.

Stiles wrote that he likes how archery allows both individual participation and being part of a team. He also has an interest in fixing broken arrows and building bows. Outside of the National Archery in the Schools Program competition, Stiles enjoys bow hunting, bow fishing, trap shooting and 3D archery targets. He is coached by his dad, Ron.

The Iowa Bowhunters Association’s National Archery in the Schools Program Foundation sponsored the bow, in partnership with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
