Final Open Boat Ramp at Big Creek Closed Monday
The boating season at Big Creek Lake has ended. The drought of 2012 has made the lake in accessible due to low water conditions.
The east ramp was the last open ramp that boaters could access the lake, officially closed at 8 p.m., Monday. Contractors will begin replacing the aging structure Tuesday.
Construction on the west and beach ramps is nearing completion, but even upon completion, those ramps will be inaccessible for boat launching due to low water levels.
Big Creek Lake is more than six feet low and is continuing to fall at a rate of six inches per week.
