When planting trees it is always wise to determine what species are
best suited to your planting site and to the soils found on that site.
The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has developed Soil
Surveys for every Iowa County. The soil
survey can be used to determine what soil type is contained on any
proposed planting site. Landowners can usually stop by their county
NRCS office and pick up a soil survey at no cost. Using the soil survey
the following tables can help landowners match the proper species to
their soils.
