Emerald Ash Borer

Emerald Ash Borer, Agrilus planipennis, was identified in the Detroit, Michigan area in 2002, and since its discovery this pest has killed millions of ash trees in MI, IN, OH, IL, PA, WV and MD. It is estimated that there are as many as 60 to 70 million ash within Iowa's rural and community forests. If this pest arrives in Iowa it could cost millions of dollars to manage the significant tree loss that could occur.
