• Characteristics - body color is sand to yellowish-brown with pronounced orange band below the dorsal fin with small dark spot on each side of lateral line, head is very slender
• Distribution - throughout the Mississippi River basin
• Foods - dipteran, mayfly, and caddisfly larvae
• Adult Length - 3 -4 inches
