Burn Ban Affects State Park Users in Webster County
LEHIGH, Iowa - Dry conditions in Webster County have prompted local officials to place additional restrictions on the burn ban enacted last week that will impact campers and other park users at Dolliver State Park and Brushy Creek State Recreation Area.
Campground fire rings, picnic grills, and the use of tiki torches, citronella candles or any sort of open flame is now prohibited. Park visitors may use self-contained charcoal and gas grills with solid lids.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources has contacted campers with reservations for the upcoming weekend and offered them a full refund if they chose to cancel due to the burn ban. The DNR will continue contacting campers with reservations as the ban continues.
The burn ban notice is posted on the state park reservations website and the DNR’s website.
