The Iowa Environmental Protection Commission will tour Lost Grove Lake in Scott County July 14, conducting business on July 15 at the DNR Air Quality office, 7900 Hickman Road in Windsor Heights.
The tour of Iowa’s newest lake, Lost Grove, kicks off at 1 p.m., after lunch at the Princeton Community Center, 428 River Drive in Princeton. The tour is open to the public. Commissioners will board a shuttle, driving to locations around the lake as they learn about lake improvements; investigating pollution; and the history, wildlife diversity and topography of the area. The tour ends at 3:30 p.m. when commissioners leave for Des Moines.
After a change in location from Scott County to Windsor Heights, the business meeting begins at 10 a.m., July 15, with public comments at 10:30 a.m. The meeting is open to the public.
At 11 a.m., a department stakeholder group will present findings and recommendations to commissioners on topsoil preservation requirements when construction activities disturb an acre or more of land.
Other highlights of the meeting include final decisions on best management practices for grain elevators and adoption of federal air toxic standards.
