Tuesday, April 24, 2012 by Iowa DNR
An opportunity to hear and see peregrine falcons on the Upper Mississippi River cliffs will be available near Harper’s Ferry on May 4 and 5.
Activities kick off with a Mississippi River fish fry served at Harper’s Ferry Community Center, at 6 p.m., May 4. Tribal elders from the Ho-Chunk Nation from Black River Falls, Wis., will present their beliefs about falcons returning to the flyway.
On May 5, Captain Robert Vavra, with Maiden Voyage River Tours, will be hosting river tours of falcon cliffs and associated wildlife flora and fauna on the Mississippi River.
A free-will offering will be accepted for fish fry and boat excursion.
