Minor source facilities located in the central third of Iowa must submit their Minor Source Emission Inventory (MSEI) for calendar year 2013 emissions to the Iowa DNR Air Quality Bureau by May 15, 2014.
Letters have been sent to all facilities required to complete this year’s report. A complete air pollutant inventory is required by Iowa Administrative Code (567) sub rule IAC 21.1(3). Air pollutant emission inventories are fundamental to the development of control and maintenance strategies required by the Clean Air Act to meet national air quality standards. The data collected is also used to identify emission levels and trends throughout the state.
Reporting forms and updated instructions can be downloaded from http://www.iowadnr.gov/InsideDNR/RegulatoryAir/EmissionsInventory/MinorSourceForms.aspx.

Facilities also have the option to submit the MSEI electronically through the State Permitting and Air Reporting System (SPARS). For more information regarding SPARS, please visit http://www.iowadnr.gov/InsideDNR/RegulatoryAir/SPARS.aspx.
Minor source facilities with less than 100 employees can also contact the Iowa Air Emissions Assistance Program (IAEAP) at the University of Northern Iowa for training in order to complete the MSEI. For more information regarding training through the IAEAP, please visit http://msei.iwrc.org.
