Protecting Yourself from Avian Influenza

This page is intended to provide the public with information on how to protect themselves from Avian Influenza. Avian Influenza can be passed to humans through direct contact with infected birds. The best protection is therefor avoiding contact with sick, dying or dead birds as much as possible. Avian Influenza has passed from birds to other animals and while it may be possible to contract Avian Influenza from these infected animals at this time it is not known to have happened.
