DNR Kaizen - Continuous Process Improvement - Continuous Process Improvement

The DNR has hosted several Business Process Improvement Events, refered to as "Kaizen", which many corporations use to improve efficiencies in specific processes. The first of these events was hosted at the Air Quality Bureau, and others have followed.

The Japanese term "Kaizen" is generally translated as "continual improvement." Each event lasts one week, with tangible results implemented at the end. During the week, a team of DNR staff and representatives from Iowa's private sector will look for ways to reduce the time it takes to assess and approve submittals, decrease the number of hand-offs in the process, and improve the overall efficiency of how paperwork is handled.

These pages are dedicated to describing these events and the improvements they have created. Select from the following list to view the details of each event.
