Draft Rulemaking and Webinar Available for GHG Tailoring Rule
The Iowa DNR is providing more information on recently finalized federal regulations for greenhouse gases and the DNR’s plans for implementing these regulations. New postings related to the Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) and Title V Greenhouse Gas Tailoring Rule are now available at the DNR Air Quality Bureau webpage for greenhouse gas emissions.
The DNR is proposing amendments to state air quality rules to match the provisions in the federal Tailoring Rule. The DNR plans to bring a Notice of Intended Action (Notice) to the EPC for decision on July 20. A draft notice is posted on the greenhouse gas web page. Those with questions or informal comments on the rulemaking should contact Christine Paulson at christine.paulson@dnr.iowa.gov or 515-242-5154. The formal Notice will be available when the July EPC agenda is publically posted (sometime the week of July 5).
Additionally, the DNR hosted a webinar on the Tailoring Rule on June 28, 2010. The webinar provided an overview of the Tailoring Rule and summary of how the DNR plans to implement the Tailoring Rule provisions in Iowa. Over 100 registrants participated in the webinar, which included a question and answer session. The presentation and recorded audio from the webinar are now available on the greenhouse gas webpage. Those with questions about the Tailoring Rule or the webinar should contact Marnie Stein at marnie.stein@dnr.iowa.gov or 515-281-8468.
