EPA Proposes New Air Toxics Standards for Stationary Internal Combustion Engines
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing additional air toxics standards for stationary internal combustion engines. The proposed National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) will apply to engines that are not already covered under current NESHAP, including engines located at area sources and certain types of existing engines at major sources. The proposed rules will set emissions standards for some engines and will also require one-time or periodic performance testing for these engines.
An EPA Fact Sheet for the proposed rules is available at:
www.epa.gov/ttn/oarpg/t3fs.html
EPA’s proposed rules were published in the Federal Register on March 5, 2009, are available at:

EPA is soliciting public comment prior to finalizing the regulations.
