EPA releases 1999 NATA

February 27, 2006

EPA has released the 1999 National-scale Air Toxics Assessment (NATA) which updates the agency's earlier assessments of the nationwide health risk estimates for air toxics. EPA developed NATA as a tool for state and local agencies and other interested groups to prioritize activities to identify pollutants of concern, the locations of interest, and the primary source of the air toxics. This assessment should not be used as a regulatory tool. Additionally, this assessment should not be used to characterize or compare risk at the local level, such as for identifying local hot spots.
