SPARS Now Available Via Internet

February 20, 2006

SPARS is now available on the Internet. The new online version eliminates user maintenance issues, allows multi-user access and provides secure ease-of-use access from most Internet providers.

To access SPARS Web, visit www.dnraq.state.ia.us/newweb/spars_web.htm. First time users will need to submit the system administrator and responsible official forms found on the page. Once an account is established, users should refer to the resources on the webpage to configure workstations to allow access.

Corporate firewalls may need to be adjusted to allow access. If your corporate computer staff have difficulties in connecting, contact the DNR's Kent Zickefoose at 515-242-5105.

SPARS Web makes it easier to submit air construction and operating permit applications and major and minor source air emission inventories. SPARS Web maintains the look and feel of the previous software, so users will be familiar with the operation with little to no additional training. SPARS Web eliminates significant user maintenance time and the need to transfer data on CD-Rom or diskette. Further, any DNR changes to database fields or formats are immediately available to facility users. No more need to download software upgrades or database patches!

SPARS Web allows secure multiple user access. For example, multiple users can work on a construction permit application and an emissions inventory simultaneously for the same facility. To access and use the system, a secure account for a system administrator and an official responsible for submitting applications and inventories (Major and Minor Sources) must be established. Forms identifying these contacts are available for download from this website.
