Asbestos NESHAP Compliance Assistance Video Offer

April 1, 2005

In time for the busy spring and summer construction season, the DNR is offering videotapes and booklets to assist understanding of federal asbestos rules that can impact renovation and demolition activities.

The 30-minute video helps understand if and when the rules apply and then how to comply. It highlights the most common mistakes so viewers can avoid them.

Before renovation projects and demolition, asbestos materials need to be identified by a qualified inspector and if enough is present, removed using certified workers to prevent asbestos fibers from becoming airborne.

The video can be borrowed for free or purchased with an accompanying booklet for $5.00. An order form is available here, or you may call the DNR at 515-242-5100. For details about the asbestos NESHAP contact the DNR's Marion Burnside at 515-281-8443.
