People everywhere are recognizing the growing problem of manmade greenhouse gases and are seeking ways to shrink it back to a size in which our world can survive. Some of the actions include:
- Public and private sector collaborators developing tools and processes to measure GHG emissions
- Companies generating energy that either emit no CO2 (through use of wind turbines), or do not produce a net gain in atmospheric CO2 (through use of biomass fuels)
- Public policies promoting climate stewardship and clean energy
- Geologists investigating ideas for storing CO2 in depleting oil and gas reservoirs and other deeply buried cavities in the Earth
- Cultural leaders who are using their influence to support reduction of greenhouse gases in purchasing decisions and lifestyle practices
- Pedestrian-friendly communities that reduce sprawl and encourage walking, bike-riding, and taking the bus
- Manufacturers that reuse, reduce, or recycle goods instead of being part of the pack that encourages consumers to throw away dated materials to purchase the newest trend
- Organizations that support planting trees to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and saving mature trees that are storing carbon dioxide
- Automakers that are developing fuel-efficient vehicles such as gas-electric hybrids
