Ambrose A. Call State Park - Kossuth County

Backbone State Park - Delaware County
  • Water Shut Off: On October 20, 2015 the Shower Building and Dump Station will be closed. Water at Six Pines Campground will be turned off October 19th, 2015. Auditorium and Beach Restrooms will be closed October 12th and 13th for the winter. Water in the Flats Picnic area will be turned October 12th. South Lake Campground electric sites and water at the frost free hydrants is available year round. Water will be turned on May 1st 2016
  • CABIN CLOSURE: Cabins 9-12 and A-D will be closed from February 1, 2016 through May 1, 2016. These Cabins are going to be remodeled during that time. (POSTED 11/24/2015)
Bellevue State Park - Jackson County
  • Water will remain turned off in the campground and modern restroom/shower building will remain closed due to construction of new shower building. Construction should be completed in early May. Water will be turned on and facilities will be opened at that time. (Posted 4/1/16)
Big Creek State Park - Polk County
  • Flush facilities will be closed on October 15, 2015 and will remain closed until approximately May 1st, 2016. Facilities with out water will remain open, this includes (pit latrines, shelters, boat ramps, and playground)
Brushy Creek State Recreation Area - Webster County
  • As of April 27, 2016 the equestrian and bike trails at Brushy Creek are temporarily closed due to wet conditions. The 12 mile all-weather rock trail around the lake remains open for use. This bulletin will be removed when trails have dried sufficiently to reopen.
Elk Rock State Park - Marion County
  • EQUESTRIAN TRAIL CLOSURE: Effective April 27th, 2016 the equestrian trails have been closed due to recent rain. This bulletin will be removed when the trails have been re-opened.
Fairport State Recreation Area - Muscatine County
  • The Fairport campground is closed until the summer of 2016. The closure is due to campground/boat ramp renovations. (Posted 4/21/2016)
Geode State Park - Henry County
  • The pit latrine at shelter # 2 has been closed permanently but the shelter is still available for rent. Those wishing to rent a shelter with restroom should use Shelter #1 or #4 as an alternative. (Posted 4/21/2016)
  • The beach shelter is closed for rentals due to a broken sewer line that will be repaired sometime this spring/early summer. The shelter will be available on first come first served basis,no reservations until the problem is fixed. No restrooms or kitchenette available until line repaired. There is a pit toilet located on the hill above the playground close to the shelter. (Posted 4/21/2016)
Green Valley State Park - Union County
  • Sites 35, 36, 43, 44, and 45 are closed due to construction of a new modern restroom and shower building. The sites will be reopened once construction has been completed.(Posted 3/16/2016)
Lake Ahquabi State Park - Warren County

Lake Anita State Park - Cass County
  • All facilities at Lake Anita State Park are open for the season. (Posted 4/13/2016)
Lake Darling State Park - Washington County
  • The restroom and shower facilities in the campground are now open for the 2016 recreation season. (Updated 4-19-16)
  • Road construction is scheduled for the new year round cabins and the current camping cabins for the Spring of 2016. Park Staff will work with customers who have already made reservations as their reservation dates draw closer. No new reservations for the cabins will be allowed to be made until construction is complete. This construction will not affect the campground reservations. Lake Keomah State Park - Mahaska County

Lake Manawa State Park - Pottawattamie County
  • CAMPGROUND CLOSED: Effective November 1, 2015 the campground at Lake Manawa State Park will be closed until further notice. The 5 shelters at the park will still be available. Lake of Three Fires State Park - Taylor County
  • All facilities have been winterized for the winter. The only water available while camping will be hydrants only. This post will be removed when we open the facilities in the spring. (Posted 10/27/2015)

Lake Wapello State Park - Davis County
  • Lake Wapello State Park campground will be closed for renovation starting September 7,2015 until September 30, 2016.
Lewis and Clark State Park - Monona County
  • Due to high water in the campground, Sites 1-50 are closed down.(Posted 4/25/2016)
  • There is road construction on Highway 175 starting around May 1st. The DOT is resurfacing the Highway from the Missouri River to I-29. This potentially will delay your arrival times.(Posted 4/25/2016)
McIntosh Woods State Park - Cerro Gordo County
  • All water facilities are currently available.
Nine Eagles State Park - Decatur County
  • Youth Group Campsite Closed: The youth group campsite is currently unavailable for reservations until July 1, 2016 due to the construction of a new shelter. (POSTED 2/4/2016)
Palisades-Kepler State Park - Linn County
  • Campground water system and shower building is now closed and will re-open around May 1st. Electric will remain on until later November and the campground gates will be closed once we have a substantial snow (and will re-open once the snow is gone in the spring). (Posted 10/27/2015)
Pilot Knob State Park - Hancock County

Pine Lake State Park - Hardin County
  • RESTROOM AVAILBILITY: Modern showers and restrooms in the campground have been opened for the season. The modern restroom at the Iowa River boat ramp is also open, however restrooms at the beach remain closed. (Updated 04/15/16)
  • TRAIL CLOSURE: A portion of the bike trail at Pine Lake State Park is currently closed for hazard tree removal. The trail is closed from the North side of the camp area North to Highway S-56. The trail will re-open once park staff are able to clear the trees and clean up the trail. (Updated 4/18/16)
Pleasant Creek State Recreation Area - Linn County
  • Water ON for 2016 season : Shower buildings, restrooms and water hydrants are OPEN for the 2016 season effective April 15,2016.
  • The lake was drawn down 15 feet in the fall of 2015. The lake is scheduled to be back to normal level in the summer of 2017. If you have any questions, please contact the park office at 319-436-7716. (UPDATED 2/1/2016)
  • Due to the construction of the lake restoration project, the Lodge and East Shelter will only be available for advanced reservations through the park office. The construction of the lake may be occurring 7 days per week, during daylight hours. Expect a certain noise level and traffic delays due to slow moving equipment on park roads. The construction will be occurring from May 1, 2016 through September 30, 2016. Red Haw State Park - Lucas County
  • Due to a delay in the construction planning process, the campground at Red Haw State Park and reservation system will remain open through Labor Day (Monday September 5, 2016). The reservation system will close on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 and remain closed through the fall season to allow for the renovation and electrical upgrade of 18 camping sites. Shimek State Forest - Van Buren County
  • EQUESTRIAN TRAIL CLOSURE: Effective April 28th, 2016, the trails have been CLOSED due to wet trail conditions as a result of spring thaw. The Wet Weather Trail is OPEN. This bulletin will be removed when the trails have re-opened. (updated 4/28/16)
Springbrook State Park - Guthrie County
  • Springbrook State Park will be CLOSED from Tuesday, September 8, 2015 through Thursday, June 9, 2016 for road/bridge construction. Access to the campground, shelters, beach, picnic areas, public hunting, and trails will not be allowed. This closure does not restrict access to the Sherburne Cabin or the Springbrook Conservation Education Center facilities. It is likely that construction may be completed prior to June 9. Stephens State Forest - Lucas County

Union Grove State Park - Tama County
  • Lake Restoration Project: Union Grove Lake was drawn down in June of 2015. The lake should be re-filled by early summer of 2016. During the drawdown and refill period, campsite reservations will be on a first come/first serve basis. Volga River State Recreation Area - Fayette County
  • The water has been turned on for the Lakeview and Albany Campgrounds. The Lakeview Shower Building is opened.(Posted 4/21/2016)
Walnut Woods State Park - Polk County
  • The Walnut Woods campground facilities are open for the 2016 season. The campground does not have shower facilities. Water is turned on for the modern restrooms and dump station facilities. (Posted 4/15/16)

Waubonsie State Park - Fremont County
  • SECTION OF EQUESTRIAN TRAIL CLOSED: Effective Immediately, the North Loop section of the equestrian trails is closed for maintenance. This leaves a significant portion of the trails still open for use. Work is expected to be completed on the North Loop section by the end of April.
