Brushy Creek State Recreation Area - Webster County
  • As of May 23, 2016 the trails at Brushy Creek are temporarily closed due to wet conditions. The 12 mile all-weather rock trail around the lake remains open for use. This bulletin will be removed when trails have dried sufficiently to reopen.
Elk Rock State Park - Marion County
  • Equestrian Trails Are Closed: Effective May 27, 2016 the equestrian trails have been closed due to the recent rainfall. This bulletin will be removed when the trails have been re-opened. (POSTED 5/27/2016)
Fairport State Recreation Area - Muscatine County
  • The Fairport campground is closed until the summer of 2016. The closure is due to campground/boat ramp renovations. (Posted 4/21/2016)
Geode State Park - Henry County
  • The pit latrine at shelter # 2 has been closed permanently but the shelter is still available for rent. Those wishing to rent a shelter with restroom should use Shelter #1 or #4 as an alternative. (Posted 4/21/2016)
  • The beach shelter is closed for rentals due to a broken sewer line that will be repaired sometime this spring/early summer. The shelter will be available on first come first served basis,no reservations until the problem is fixed. No restrooms or kitchenette available until line repaired. There is a pit toilet located on the hill above the playground close to the shelter. (Posted 4/21/2016)
Green Valley State Park - Union County
  • Sites 35, 36, 43, 44, and 45 are closed due to construction of a new modern restroom and shower building. The sites will be reopened once construction has been completed.(Posted 3/16/2016)
Gull Point State Park - Dickinson County
  • CAMPSITE CLOSURE: Due to the wet conditions on campsites 22, 23, 24, 29, 30, 31, and 32 they are currently unavailable for reservations. Once these campsites are suitable for reservations this alert will be removed. (POSTED 5/26/2016)
Lake Anita State Park - Cass County
  • All facilities at Lake Anita State Park are open for the season. (Posted 4/13/2016)
Lake Darling State Park - Washington County
  • The restroom and shower facilities in the campground are now open for the 2016 recreation season. (Updated 4-19-16)
  • Road construction is scheduled for the new year round cabins and the current camping cabins for the Spring of 2016. Park Staff will work with customers who have already made reservations as their reservation dates draw closer. No new reservations for the cabins will be allowed to be made until construction is complete. This construction will not affect the campground reservations. Lake Keomah State Park - Mahaska County

Lake Manawa State Park - Pottawattamie County
  • CAMPGROUND CLOSED: Effective November 1, 2015 the campground at Lake Manawa State Park will be closed until further notice. The 5 shelters at the park will still be available. Lake of Three Fires State Park - Taylor County

Lake Wapello State Park - Davis County
  • Lake Wapello State Park campground will be closed for renovation starting September 7,2015 until September 30, 2016.
Ledges State Park - Boone County
  • The Canyon Drive is currently closed to vehicle traffic. Heavy rainfall has caused flash flooding, making the stream flowing through the canyon area of Ledges rise to levels unsafe for vehicle traffic. Park visitors are allowed to hike into the canyon area at this time but be advised the stream is running at a high level and visitors are cautioned not to enter the stream on foot. The campground, trails, many other roads and parking lots, and both open shelters remain accessible by vehicle. Lewis and Clark State Park - Monona County

  • There is road construction on Highway 175 starting around May 1st. The DOT is resurfacing the Highway from the Missouri River to I-29. This potentially will delay your arrival times.(Posted 4/25/2016)
Maquoketa Caves State Park - Jackson County
  • Visitors to Maquoketa Caves State Park once again have the opportunity to explore the remarkable cave features of the park. The caves are currently open and free of charge. Those who plan to enter the caves are required to attend a short program regarding White Nose Syndrome and preventing its spread. White Nose Syndrome is a deadly disease affecting bats, and although it has no impact on humans, it can be spread by humans. Beginning May 9, interpreters are available at the caves from 8am to 4:30pm (seven days a week) and beginning May 26 they are available from 8am to 8pm (seven days a week). McIntosh Woods State Park - Cerro Gordo County

Nine Eagles State Park - Decatur County

Pilot Knob State Park - Hancock County

Pine Lake State Park - Hardin County
  • TRAIL CLOSURE: A portion of the bike trail at Pine Lake State Park is currently closed for hazard tree removal. The trail is closed from the North side of the camp area North to Highway S-56. The trail will re-open once park staff are able to clear the trees and clean up the trail. (Updated 4/18/16)
Pleasant Creek State Recreation Area - Linn County
  • Effective, May 18th, 2016 the beach will be closed until the shoreline restoration project is completed and the lake refills. With the spring drawdown of the lake for shoreline work, the water’s edge is receded more than 75 feet from the current beach area and a significant drop off is exposed, creating unsafe conditions for the area. The shoreline restoration work is expected to be completed later this summer, given good weather conditions, and the lake is expected to fill in 2017.   • Water ON for 2016 season : Shower buildings, restrooms and water hydrants are OPEN for the 2016 season effective April 15,2016.
  • Due to the construction of the lake restoration project, the Lodge and East Shelter will only be available for advanced reservations through the park office. The construction of the lake may be occurring 7 days per week, during daylight hours. Expect a certain noise level and traffic delays due to slow moving equipment on park roads. The construction will be occurring from May 1, 2016 through September 30, 2016. Red Haw State Park - Lucas County
  • Due to a delay in the construction planning process, the campground at Red Haw State Park and reservation system will remain open through Labor Day (Monday September 5, 2016). The reservation system will close on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 and remain closed through the fall season to allow for the renovation and electrical upgrade of 18 camping sites. Springbrook Conservation Education Center - Guthrie County
  • Springbrook State Park will re-open the campground at Noon, May 26th, 2016. While the campground will remain open, dirt work and seeding operations will continue as weather permits. Construction will continue until mid June on the access road to the CCC shelter, Beach Shelter and picnic areas. Reservations will not be accepted until after June 9th.
