Section 313 Toxic Chemical Release Inventory Reporting (TRI)

Emergency Planning and Community Right-To-Know Act (EPCRA)Air emmission at a brick factory.

Section 313 - Toxic Chemical Release Inventory

EPCRA section 313 requires facilities meeting regulatory requirements to complete a Toxic Chemical Release Inventory (TRI) Form annually for specified chemicals. The form must be submitted annually to EPA and the State Emergency Response Commission (SERC) by July 1. The form covers releases to the environment and other waste management of toxic chemicals that occurred during the preceding calendar year.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources has now joined EPA's TRI-ME web application. Facilities who file TRI Form A and Form R's using EPA's TRI-ME web no longer have to send hard copies to the State of Iowa. This electronic reporting process has added greater flexibility, efficiency, and accuracy. If facilities report by hardcopy form then a copy needs to be sent to the State of Iowa.

Iowa accepts reports submitted using US EPA reporting forms and will continue to except hard copies or CDs of the TRI Form A and Form R reports. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Elonda Bacon at 515/725-0302 or e-mail her at iowa.epcra@dnr.iowa.gov.

The forms can be sent to:
