The Mount Ayr Fisheries Station is located straight north of Mount Ayr just below Loch Ayr Lake. The fisheries management team consists of a biologist, Andy Jansen and a technician, Dray Walter. This team manages public fishing waters in Adams, Clarke, Decatur, Madison, Page, Ringgold, Taylor and Union Counties. Some of the larger and more popular bodies of water in this area are Green Valley, Lake Icaria, Three Mile, Twelve Mile and West Lake Osceola. Some of the activities undertaken by this management team include:
surveying and assessing fish populations in lakes, rivers and streams
installing fish habitat and other structures
performing fish kill investigations
conducting fish clinics and outdoor classrooms
raising hybrid striped bass (Palmetto bass), redear sunfish
