The Lake Macbride Fisheries Station is located in Lake Macbride State Park west of Solon.  The fisheries management team consists of a biologist, Paul Sleeper and a technician, Chris Mack.  This team manages public fishing waters in Benton, Cedar, Grundy, Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Linn, Marshall, Poweshiek, and Tama Counties.  Some of the larger and more popular bodies of water in this area are Lake Macbride, Coralville Reservoir, Pleasant Creek Lake, and the Iowa, Cedar, and Wapsipinicon Rivers.

Some of the activities undertaken by this management team include:

  • surveying and assessing fish and mussel populations in lakes and rivers
  • installing fish habitat and other structures
  • performing fish kill investigations
  • conducting fish clinics and outdoor classrooms
