The Boone Fisheries Office is located at the Boone Wildlife Research Station just south of Boone.  The fisheries management team consists of a biologist, Ben Dodd and a technician, Andy Otting.  This team manages public fishing waters in
Boone, Dallas, Jasper, Marion, Polk, Story, and Warren Counties.  Some of the larger and more popular bodies of water in this area are Saylorville Lake, Lake Red Rock, Big Creek Lake and Lake Ahquabi.  Some of the activities undertaken by this management team include:
  • surveying and assessing fish populations in lakes, rivers and streams
  • installing fish habitat and other structures
  • performing fish kill investigations
  • conducting limited fish clinics and outdoor classrooms
