Iowa's Deer Seasons Approved for Public Comment
Iowa’s proposed 2016-17 deer hunting seasons were approved for public comment Thursday by the Natural Resource Commission of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. The proposal included a status quo county antlerless license quota and maintained the buck only restriction for select counties in northwest Iowa during early muzzleloader season and first shotgun season.

2016 DNR Sale Set for May 21
DES MOINES – The Iowa DNR will hold the 2016 spring auction on May 21, at Pioneer Livestock Pavilion on the Iowa State Fairgrounds, in Des Moines. Doors will open at 6:30 a.m., and the auction will begin at 8 a.m.

2016 Deer License Application Dates Set
Nonresidents can submit their Iowa deer license applications from May 7 through June 5, 2016. Preference points must also be purchased during this time frame. Pheasant Numbers on the Rise
After several years of declining numbers, 2015 marked a significant increase in Iowa’s pheasant population. Positive hunting reports from last fall and the mild winter have everyone anticipating a good spring hatch and successful 2016 pheasant hunting season. Start planning now for Iowa’s pheasant opener on Saturday, October 29, 2016. Pheasant hunters are required to purchase a small game hunting license and habitat fee, currently available online or by calling (800) 367-1188.
