Fishing Iowa's Interior Rivers

Iowa’s rivers and streams continue to be popular destinations of Iowa anglers, with thousands of miles of rivers fishable across the entire state. Stream fishing has a particular fascination to people who enjoy Iowa’s natural landscapes and a unique angling challenge around every bend.

The Iowa DNR is hard at work to provide more detailed fishing information on Iowa streams, including maps, amenities and more. Look for this information in fall 2013.

Iowa-Caught Fish Are Safe to Eat Minimize
The vast majority of Iowa’s streams, rivers and lakes offer safe and high-quality fish that pose little or no threat to human health if consumed. Some limitations may apply for young children and pregnant women. Here’s a Fish Consumption Fact Sheet from the Iowa DNR and the Iowa Dept. of Public Health for more information. Here is a list of current fish consumption advisories for Iowa lakes and rivers.
