111(d) Emission Guidelines for Existing Power Plants
On August 3, 2015 the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued final 111(d) emission guidelines for existing power plants. The DNR is currently listening to stakeholders regarding the emission guidelines and will provide updated information as it becomes available.


111(d) Iowa Schedule and Stakeholder Participation

On February 9, 2016, the U.S. Supreme Court granted a stay on EPA's Clean Power Plan rules regulating carbon dioxide from existing power plants under section 111(d) of the Clean Air Act. At this time, no future meetings of the 111(d) stakeholder group have been scheduled. DNR may schedule a stakeholder meeting after the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals rules on the merits of the rule, possibly this summer or fall.

State of Iowa Comments on EPA's Proposed 111(d) Rulemakings
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the Iowa Utilities Board (IUB), and the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) jointly submitted the following comments on the EPA's proposed rulemakings for existing power plants:

On August 3, 2015 EPA finalized new source performance standards for new, modified, and reconstructed power plants.
