IS NOW AVAILABLE
Original and revised 2-, 5-, and 10-yr. capture zones for the City of Jefferson active wells.
The Iowa Geological and Water Survey (IGWS) recently completed a groundwater investigation near Jefferson, Iowa. The
Jefferson Groundwater Investigation details the scientific work completed by the IGWS and delineates the source water capture zones for the buried sand and gravel aquifer. Jefferson’s source water capture zones decreased by approximately 90% as a direct result of this investigation. A significant reduction in capture zone area provides municipalities with a better opportunity to implement source water protection practices.
