The Conservation Education Resources in Iowa lists agencies and organizations related to natural resources that provide resources and information useful to educators. Federal agencies, state agencies, public universities, county conservation boards, and conservation organizations are included. (The list does not include all agencies and organizations.)
Background information is provided for the following topics:
- Iowa's waters
- Iowa's forests
- Iowa's wildlife
This information comes from the Iowa Supplements to Projects WILD, WILD Aquatic, and Project Learning Tree.
How do I get the materials?
Materials are available only through workshop/training sessions which demonstrate their use (six hours). Workshops can be held for teachers, scout leaders, camp personnel, and others. You may request a workshop in your area for a group of at least 15 educators/youth leaders. To request a workshop, contact the Aquatic Education program, 641-747-2200.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources also provides training through some 25 college and university science methods classes for pre-service teachers.
WILD and WILD Aquatic materials are provided free of charge. A $15 fee per participant is charged for PLT materials to fund the PLT program at the state level.
